US tariffs to be announced tomorrow

At 3:00 p.m. on April 2 (Wednesday) U.S. time, which is 3:00 a.m. on April 3 (Thursday) Hong Kong time, U.S. President Trump will announce reciprocal tariffs in the Rose Garden of the White House.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told lawmakers that the reciprocal tariffs to be announced would be a ceiling level and that countries could take steps to try to get the rates lowered.

It was previously reported that the United States plans to impose a tariff of about 20% on most imported goods.

As for previous reports that White House aides have drafted a plan to impose tariffs of about 20% on most US imports, the report said that White House advisers reminded that multiple options are under consideration and no final decision has been made. One of the options is to increase tariffs on imported products from each country. Trump said the tariffs announced then would be "tailor-made" for each country, rather than the targeted approach reported in the news in recent days.
