Clarification! Canadian lifeboat Stream B is still open!
Because of the news reports that the application for the Open Work Permit ( #OWP ) has been closed, people may have mistakenly thought that #StreamB has also been closed!
We would like to clarify that Stream B is still valid!
Although the application for the previous Open Work Permit (OWP) has been closed, Stream B (the Canadian work experience immigration channel) is still open, and eligible Hong Kong people can still apply for permanent residence through this channel!
What is Stream B?
Applicable to: Hong Kong residents holding a valid work permit and having worked in Canada for at least 1 year of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time hours) in the past 3 years
The relationship between Stream B, OWP and LMIA
- OWP (expired): originally one of the ways to enter Canada quickly, but not a necessary condition for Stream B
- LMIA work permit (current scheme): can be obtained through employer sponsorship, which is the best choice for accumulating Stream B work experience
- Other work permits: including spouse work permits, graduate work permits, etc., as long as they meet the requirements, they can be used to apply for Stream B
