Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program - SINP

About the Region

Saskatchewan, is located in the heart of Canada, bordered by Manitoba and Alberta to the east and west, and Montana and North Dakota in the United States to the south. The name Saskatchewan is thought to have been coined by early Native Americans to refer to the fast-flowing rivers that run through the territory. Saskatchewan was formed in 1905 and is known as the Prairie Provinces, along with the neighbouring provinces of Alberta and Manitoba. Saskatchewan has always been known for its agriculture and livestock production, and is an important grain belt in Canada. With a population of 1.03 million, more than 60 per cent of the province's population lives in cities, with four distinct seasons. The provincial capital is Regina, and the main cities in the province are: Regina and Saskatoon. The province's leading university is the University of Saskatchewan, which is particularly famous for its medical, biotechnology and scientific research.
