The department plans to process up to 15,000 sponsorship applications during 2025.

Reason for suspension:

According to the government's plan, the target for new immigrants in 2025 has been reduced by 20%. The target number of new immigrants has been reduced from the original 500,000 to 395,000, including the family reunification program for parents and grandparents.

Replacement plan

For those who have submitted reunion applications in 2024 or earlier, IRCC will give priority to processing in 2025, just be patient.

Super Visa: Canadian citizens and permanent residents can still apply for a "super visa" for their parents or grandparents, which allows their relatives to visit Canada for up to five years.
